Faith leaders, officials, and public gather for Hiroshima Peace Bell Ceremony

Honpa Hongwanji Bishop Eric Matsumoto was among the speakers at the Hiroshima Peace Bell Ceremony, held on August 6, 2016 in Honolulu’s Chinatown. The event commemorates the atomic bombing of Hiroshima 71 years ago and brings the community together in an aspiration for peace.

The event was held outside Izumo Taishakyo Mission, where a replica of the Peace Bell in Hiroshima stands. The bell was a gift from Hiroshima, a sister city of Honolulu.

After the speeches and music, all in attendance were invited to ring the bell for peace.
