On the temple grounds of Puna Hongwanji Buddhist Temple we have a monument dedicated to the brave soldiers that sacrificed their lives for our freedom. The monument bears the names of Puna area residents who were killed in action.
Guest speaker for this years event will be Dr. Peter Matsuura. The Hawaii County Band plays a prelude to the event and during the program.
During the service names are called for each service member that we honor. Flower bouquets are presented for each person.
