Travel to Kyoto for the Accession of the Jodo Shinshu Tradition (Dento Hokoku Hoyo)

Overseas members are invited to come to Kyoto, Japan to be present for the formal accession of His Eminence Kojun Ohtani, Sennyo Monshu, the 25th Head Priest of the Hongwanji. There are two ceremonies to choose from, one in 2016 and one in 2017. In each case, a spiritual enrichment and fellowship tour is available to deepen participants’ understanding and appreciation for the Jodo Shinshu tradition.

The first ceremony is October 21, 2016. In this case, in addition to observing the accession ceremony and the participating in the Kyoto program, tour participants will visit sites and places associated with the 8th Head Priest of the Hongwanji, Rennyo Shonin.

The second ceremony is March 31, 2017. Following the accession ceremony and Kyoto program, tour participants choosing this option will visit sites and places related to the Founder or Shinran Shonin including Lady Eshinni.

Any individuals (ministers, members, and affiliates) of Honpa Hongwanji Mission of Hawaii may register. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. There are 50 seats available for the service on October 21, 2016 and 60 seats for the service on March 31, 2017.

Registration deadlines are February 22, 2016 for the October 2016 ceremony and tour and May 13, 2016 for the March/April 2017 ceremony and tour.
