Headquarters initiates new series of online dharma messages premiering Sundays at 11 a.m.

The first in the series premiered July 5, 2020. Watch it now here or on YouTube.

The Honpa Hongwanji Mission of Hawaii Headquarters has accepted the baton from the State Ministers Association (SMA) and will carry on statewide YouTube video premieres on Sunday mornings. Instead of online services at 10 a.m. (as the SMA had produced), Headquarters will provide online dharma messages at 11 a.m. The videos will include an opening/prelude and a closing in addition to the dharma message.

Online dharma messages will premiere at least through August 2020. The first premiered at 11 a.m. on July 5 and features an Independence Day weekend message by Bishop Eric Matsumoto entitled “Symbols of Freedom and Equality.”

Please note that for July 12, a statewide online Bon Service is already scheduled for 10 a.m., so no additional statewide dharma message will be offered that day. Online dharma message premieres will then resume July 19 at 11 a.m.

We congratulate the SMA on its three-month series of online services! Some temples are now carefully beginning to offer in-person services and others are producing their own online services. Whatever an individual temple’s unique situation, we hope this new offering of online dharma messages will complement temples’ efforts to share the Dharma.

The new messages will become part of an Online Dharma Messages playlist on the Honpa Hongwanji Mission of Hawaii YouTube channel.
