Buddhist Study Center hosts its 50th Summer Session lecture series the evenings of August 5-9, 2024 at the Buddhist Study Center near UH Mānoa. This year’s distinguished teacher is Rev. Dr. Kenji Akahoshi, formerly Head Minister of Buddhist Temple of San Diego. Rev. Akahoshi will provide a contemporary interpretation of Shin Buddhism based on the theme, “Shifting From ‘Please’ to ‘Thank You’ – A Path to Awakening.”
Sessions will be both in person at the Buddhist Study Center, 1436 University Ave in Honolulu, and online via Zoom. Those interested may register using an online form. For those attending via Zoom, registering ensures you receive the Zoom link. The registration deadline is July 31, 2024.
Each session will be an interactive workshop that leads to an experience of the benefits of Shin Buddhism. From Monday to Friday, the topics are:
- Why & How of Gratitude
- Truth: Now and Then
- Who Am I in the World?
- Benefits of Shin Buddhism
- Being Sacred in the Profane
For all those seeking solutions to common concerns, Shin has provided a path for ordinary people for 800 years. Intended to be relevant to both newcomers and experienced travelers on the Buddhist path, the 2024 Summer Session will provide practical guidance on how being a Shin Buddhist in the 21st century can resolve many issues.
