The son of the author of Gambare Hiroshima—Don’t Give Up and cast members of “Peace On Your Wings” are the featured guests at a book signing event at Honpa Hongwanji Hawaii Betsuin on Sunday, April 27, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Event hosts Honpa Hongwanji Mission of Hawaii and Honpa Hongwanji Hawaii Betsuin invite the public to attend.

Larry Miwa’s diary is an important call to action, an important appeal to everyone to rise and do everything possible to ensure that there is no other Hiroshima.
Stephen will read excerpts from the book and sign copies. All proceeds from book sales at this event will go towards the current production of “Peace On Your Wings.”
“Peace On Your Wings” tells the story of Sadako Sasaki, who survived the atomic bombing of Hiroshima but was later afflicted with a radiation-induced leukemia. Sadako folded over 1000 paper cranes before she passed away. The story of Sadako and her 1000 paper cranes has become and enduring message of peace.
In preparation for their summer performances at Kennedy theater and tour to Japan, the “Peace On Your Wings” cast will perform a few songs from the musical at the event.
The emcee is Jose Barzola, University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. Light refreshments will be provided.
