ABOUT TALK STORY

“Talk Story” is a unique local cultural experience in which people share their life experiences and develop relationships that build and strengthen communities. At Hawaii Betsuin, we invite special Dharma teachers to lead a dialogue that enhances our awareness, understanding and experience of the embrace of wisdom and compassion. Rennyo Shonin spread Shinran Shonin’s teaching through Ko Groups; conducting dialogues with common people about everyday living on the Nembutsu Path. This event is also an opportunity to spend some time with a new Hongwanji minister.

Temple Access
Vehicle access to the temple grounds is from Lusitana Street, not Pali Highway. The Annex Temple is the more modern building on the makai (ocean) side of the campus. The Talk Story will be on the main (upper) level. From the back lot on the Lusitana Street side of the temple, no stairs are required to access the temple.

Rev. Kiyohara will also be the guest speaker Hawaii Betsuin’s 9:30 a.m. Gotan-e Combined Service the following morning, Sunday May 19. All welcome!
