Hawaii Buddhist Council to offer books, performances, and presentations at the Hawaii Book & Music Festival May 4-5

The Hawaii Buddhist Council (HBC) will participate in this year’s Hawaii Book & Music Festival the weekend of May 4 & 5, 2019. The festival goes from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. both days on the Civic Grounds by Honolulu Hale.

Honpa Hongwanji Mission of Hawaii will sell books at the HBC booth and offer several performances.

HHMH Presentations

Saturday, May 4

  • 10:30 a.m. – Songs of Peace, Buddhist Gathas (ministers and choir)
  • 1:00 p.m. – The Transformative Power of Gratitude (short exercises with HHMH President Pieper Toyama)
  • 3:00 p.m. – Book reading with Terry Arakaki
  • 3:30 p.m. – The Transformative Power of Gratitude (short exercises with HHMH President Pieper Toyama)

Sunday, May 5

  • 10:30 a.m. – Opening Chants used in Honpa Hongwanji Services (Sanbujo & Jusan with Bishop Eric Matsumoto)
